Marjan Moghaddam Marjan Moghaddam is an award-winning, pioneering, New York City-based artist and animator, who works primarily with 3d Computer Graphics and digital media for print, video art, performance, and installation. Her work has been exhibited extensively at various international galleries, museums and festivals, in addition to curated exhibits at the Armory Show in NYC and Art Basel Miami. In recognition of the groundbreaking and significant nature of her computer art, Ms. Moghaddam's work has been an official selection of the prestigious international Siggraph Computer Animation Festival and Art Gallery a total of 5 times. She was also included in the Siggraph CG03, 30 Years of Computer Art Gallery and international, two year, touring exhibition.

Ms. Moghaddam is a recipient of numerous grants for her innovative and cutting edge art, such as Rockefeller Fund, NY Department of Cultural Affairs, Brooklyn Arts Council, and the Experimental Television Fund. She was the Featured performing artist for the Visual Music Marathon, and is listed in the Internet Pioneer Hall as one of the first 100 artists to post Gif89a animations on the internet. Her digital art is privately held in various private and institutional collections. Ms. Moghaddam’s animations have also been the official selection of dozens of international film and video festivals throughout the years.

Marjan is originally from Iran and immigrated to the US in 1979, right after the Islamic revolution, and is a Full Professor of Computer Graphics and Animation at the Brooklyn campus of Long Island University. She was a student at NYIT during the Alvey Ray Smith era of pioneering Computer Graphics innovations, and has been working with the technology since then. Most recently she was a winner in both print and animation categories of the Los Angeles New Media Festival and the Audience Best of Show Award at the Mobile and Humanity Art Show. Ms. Moghaddam’s most recent collection is titled “Of Revolutions”, exploring the theme of uprising on a personal and political level. The series consists of spectacular and cinematic, high-fidelity, large format digital paintings on archival Digital C and aluminum, and 1080HD computer animations as video art, which has already been shown in several major exhibitions and won awards. Most recently the collection was shown as part of Ms. Moghaddam’s solo show at the Los Angeles Center For Digital Art (LACDA). Additional pieces from this collection have been show at various Chelsea and Lower East Side group exhibitions recently, and she is the Featured New Media Exposure Artist for the 2014 Select Art Fair as part of New York’s Frieze Art Week. Additionally, Ms. Moghaddam was interviewed in 2 consecutive one hour shows on Progressive Radio Network, and most recently on Art & Technology show, http://artonair.org/. Her work employs cutting edge technologies, a distinct visual signature, a powerful emotive and expressionistic quality, and charged personal narratives.
